Why Blogging?

I wanted to start my first post with a question that I never thought I was going to come across. Why do people blog? This question is very important to understand in order to enjoy the benefits of blogging. A couple of years ago, I thought that the only way to build an online presence was through the use of social media. Of course, I did not know much about the advertising world, nor all of the effort entailed behind blogging. However, I discovered that bloggers achieve a higher or equivalent level of exposure on the internet with a key difference being, that it is based mainly on the quality of their content rather than solely on their physical appearance.

Social Media vs. Blogging

In my opinion, social media tends to lack substance and is mostly vapid. Sometimes, pictures and long posts are not enough to catch the attention of users. I have witnessed this problem especially with recipes and food websites where a quick video with a long recipe is not enough to explain all of the details required to prepare the meal properly. However, with blogs, people can offer a better version of the story with added colour. Bloggers are able to create a deeper connection with people who share the same interests. Therefore, it is my opinion that the true magic of a blog lies in the real connection that is forged between the blogger and the subscribers/webpage visitors.

Nevertheless, one of the advantages of social media is how bloggers can “drag” users to their website if the content shown in a post is not enough. This usually works, with recipes, and online stores.

I am definitely still learning, and this is one of my first adventures! Learning how to blog and how to serve content to an audience is so exciting and inspiring. If you have any suggestions or any advice, please let me know in the comments!
